The spokesperson of Tuen Mun Hospital (TMH) made the following announcement today (September 20):
Four patients (aged 19 to 46) and six staff members in a male mentally handicapped ward of TMH have presented with fever and upper respiratory tract infection symptoms since September 11. Appropriate viral tests were arranged for the patients. Test results of all patients were pending. The patients are being treated under isolation and all are in stable condition. Five of the concerned staff members have resumed duty while the remaining one is on sick leave now.
Admission to the ward has been suspended. Restricted visits to and discharge from the ward have been imposed and infection control measures have already been stepped up. All other patients in the ward are under close surveillance.
The cases have been reported to the Hospital Authority Head Office and the Centre for Health Protection for follow up.
