Woman killed in Tuen Mun traffic accident

     Police are investigating a fatal traffic accident in Tuen Mun this afternoon (September 11) in which an 87-year-old woman was killed.

     Shortly before 2pm, a public light bus (PLB) driven by a 66-year-old man was travelling along the Castle Peak Bay section of Castle Peak Road towards Tuen Mun. When approaching near Tsing Yung Street, the PLB hit the 87-year-old woman who was crossing the road. The PLB then hit onto railings before it sideturned to its right and came to a halt.

     The woman was seriously injured and rushed to Tuen Mun Hospital in unconscious state and was certified dead at 2.32pm.

     The PLB driver was arrested for dangerous driving causing death and being detained for further enquiries.   

     Investigations by the Special Investigation Team of Traffic, New Territories North are under way.
