The following is issued on behalf of the Commission on Youth:
The Commission on Youth (COY) organised an exchange session with youths today (August 31) and invited the Under Secretary for Transport and Housing, Mr Yau Shing-mu, to exchange views with youths on subsidising home ownership.
Mr Yau said, "A public consultation exercise on subsidising home ownership is now being undertaken by the Transport and Housing Bureau (THB) to engage relevant stakeholders and the general public extensively through various channels including forums, focus groups and e-engagement platforms. On this important subject, the Government will listen to the views of the public to try to identify a way forward.
"At today's youth exchange session, we listened to various views from young people on the subject of subsidising home ownership. These serve as important references to the Government for formulating relevant policies.
"The consultation will last until September 17, 2010. At the end of the consultation exercise, the THB will compile and publish a compendium recording the views collected. Views and suggestions collected will be submitted to the Chief Executive for consideration.กจ
The Chairman of the COY, Mr Chan Chun-bun, said that the COY would continue to organise exchange sessions and invite government representatives to attend so that young people will have more opportunities to exchange views with them on topics of concern.
