The spokesperson of Castle Peak Hospital (CPH) made the following announcement today (August 30):
Three patients (aged 44 to 62) and two staff members in a female ward of CPH have presented with fever and flu symptoms since August 21. Appropriate viral tests were arranged for the patients. Test results of all three patients were found positive to Human Influenza A (H3). The patients are being treated under isolation and all are in stable condition. One of the concerned staff members has resumed duty while the other one is on sick leave now.
Admission to the ward has been suspended. Restricted visits to and discharge from the ward have been imposed and infection control measures have already been stepped up. All other patients in the ward are under close surveillance.
The cases have been reported to the Hospital Authority Head Office and the Centre for Health Protection for follow up.
