In response to media enquiries on a traffic accident involving participants of the Student Tour of the Shanghai World Expo, a spokesman for the Home Affairs Bureau (HAB) said today (August 25) that about 35 participants had been sent to Tuen Mun Hospital, North District Hospital and Pok Oi Hospital after three of the coaches, while on the way back to Hong Kong yesterday, had a slight collision near the Shenzhen Bay Port area due to rain. All other participants had already returned home after arriving in Hong Kong.
The spokesman added that the Under Secretary for Home Affairs, Ms Florence Hui, had gone to visit the tour members at Tuen Mun Hospital. Staff members of the HAB and the Home Affairs Department are offering assistance to them at the three hospitals.
