Public urged to donate blood over summer (with photo)

The following is issued on behalf of the Hospital Authority:

     While the sun is blazing during the hot summer, the Hong Kong Red Cross Blood Transfusion Service (BTS) appeals to members of the public to help bring the sunshine to patients in hospitals.  By sparing a little time to give blood, their donations will definitely benefit many patients!
 
     As a token of BTS's gratitude, donors giving blood between August 9 and 22 will be presented with a limited edition "Pull-back Q-Blood Donation Bus Keychain" (see photo enclosed). They may also get a "Blood Donation T-shirt" co-signed by BTS's celebrity ambassador Ms Kay Tse, top snooker player Mr Marco Fu and cycling gold medallist Mr Michael Lo.      People aged 16 to 65, weighing over 41kg and healthy are eligible to be a blood donor.  Male donors aged 18 or above can give blood every three months and female donors every four months.  Youths aged between 16 and 17 can donate blood every six months.

     The BTS looks forward to receiving the full support of the community.
