Booking for free admission to LCSD's leisure facilities on Sport For All Day to start from Sunday
***********************************************************

The Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LCSD) will open its fee-charging leisure facilities to the public for free use during Sport For All Day on August 8. The public can book the facilities starting this Sunday (August 1) to enjoy the fun of sports activities.

From 10am on Sunday, individual members of the public can book a wide range of leisure facilities that have not been block-booked by organisations on August 8. The bookings can be made at all Leisure Link booking counters in LCSD venues on a first-come-first-served basis.

The leisure facilities open to free use by the public on August 8 are:

* indoor leisure facilities ranging from badminton courts, tennis courts, basketball courts, netball courts, volleyball courts, squash courts, table tennis tables, billiard tables, sport climbing walls, bowling greens, golf facilities, fitness rooms, activity rooms to dance rooms

* outdoor leisure facilities covering tennis courts, bowling greens, batting cages, rope courses, sport climbing walls, archery ranges and golf facilities

* public swimming pools (except Wan Chai Swimming Pool and Lai Chi Kok Park Swimming Pool)

* crafts at Water Sports Centres

Camp facilities, sports grounds and turf pitches will not be included in the free use scheme.

Each person may book only one session of the leisure facilities irrespective of the type. No prior booking is required for free admission to the LCSD's swimming pools. Those interested should line up at the entrance to the pools before the opening hours of each session on August 8 for admission on a first-come-first-served basis.

If a hirer fails to take up the booked facility 10 minutes after the start time of the booked session, the facility will be reallocated to any walk-in applicants on a first-come-first-served basis. The LCSD appeals to hirers to make the best use of the booked facilities. To give up their booked sessions, they can fill out the booking cancellation form or confirm their cancellation in writing and send the information together with the permit to the LCSD by fax, email or in person. The booking cancellation form is available at all Leisure Link booking counters at LCSD venues and can be downloaded from the Sport For All Day dedicated homepage: www.lcsd.gov.hk/specials/sfad/en/index.php .

All users of leisure facilities should observe the existing Conditions of Use of Recreation and Sports Facilities under the LCSD. Swimmers should help keep swimming pools clean and hygienic. People should not use the swimming pool facilities if they do not feel well. They should put on a clean swimsuit and use the toilet if necessary and should not defecate or vomit in the pools. Before entering the pool deck areas, they should shower in the changing rooms, and walk through the shower baths and footbaths.

During Sport For All Day on August 8, a series of free programmes will be organised at designated sports centres in the 18 districts throughout the territory to call on people to do more exercise on a regular basis. These activities include dance, fitness corners, talks and assessments relating to sports and health, parent-child sports programmes and sports activities with district characteristics.

Enrolment for the above free programmes started on July 15. The programmes are well received by the public with limited places still available for enrolment. Those interested can visit the LCSD's District Leisure Services Offices or designated venues in districts to enroll for the remaining number of places available on a first-come-first-served basis. Please grab the last chance to sign up for admission.

Details of Sport For All Day are available at the dedicated homepage: www.lcsd.gov.hk/specials/sfad/en/index.php. For enquiries, please call 1823.
