Tung Chung Public Library will move on July 27 to G -1/F, Tung Chung Municipal Services Building, 39 Man Tung Road, Tung Chung, Lantau Island, offering more comprehensive library services to residents in the district.
The library, currently located at Shop No. 211, 2/F, Yat Tung Shopping Centre, Yat Tung (I) Estate, Tung Chung, will be closed on the same date.
The new Tung Chung Public Library is a district library with an area of 2,713 square metres.
Apart from facilities such as an adult library, children's library, newspaper and periodicals section, extension activities room and exhibition area, self-service book check-out and renewal service, and Internet express terminal, the library's new facilities and services will include express check-in service, self-service photocopying service, leisure reading area and coffee corner, multimedia library, computer and information centre and students' study room.
The library has an initial stock of more than 150,000 items including Chinese and English books, encyclopaedias, dictionaries, directories, compact discs and CD-Roms, and more than 120 newspaper and periodical titles for people of all ages and interests.
The library will also organise extension activities such as storytelling for children and book displays to promote reading.
Students and members of cultural and educational organisations interested in learning more about the library's facilities and services are welcome to contact the library for group visits.
The Tung Chung Public Library opens from noon to 8pm on Mondays, 9am to 8pm from Tuesdays to Saturdays, and from 9am to 5pm on Sundays and public holidays.
