Hospital Authority welcomes re-appointment of Chairman

The following is issued on behalf of the Hospital Authority:

     The Hospital Authority (HA) today (July 16) welcomed the Government's re-appointment of Mr Anthony Wu Ting-yuk as Chairman of the HA for another two years when his current term expires at the end of November this year.

     Mr Wu said it was an honour to be re-appointed and he would continue to do his best to serve the people of Hong Kong.  "This re-appointment shows the Government's recognition and appreciation of the HA's work and I'd like to thank all my colleagues in the HA for their unwavering support over the years.  I am really honoured to be Chairman of such an outstanding team of dedicated professionals who selflessly give their best in serving the people of Hong Kong.

     "There are lots of challenges ahead of us but I am sure that with the support of my colleagues in the HA, we will rise to these challenges and come out as a stronger and better organisation,"he said.

     Mr Wu also thanked the Government, in particular, the Food and Health Bureau, for its support and guidance.  "The Government has given the HA tremendous support and guidance over the years and we will continue to work with the Government to provide quality medical services to the people of Hong Kong and also in taking forward the healthcare reform initiatives in the years ahead."

     With the HA marking its 20th anniversary this year, Mr Wu said he also looked forward to the HA continuing to strengthen communication with all stakeholders and enhancing its public accountability and transparency.

     The HA Chief Executive, Mr Shane Solomon, welcomed the re-appointment of Mr Wu.  "The entire management team is overwhelmed to learn of Mr Wu's re-appointment.  Under his leadership, we have been through many challenges in the last few years.

     "His visionary leadership, dedication to work, passion and commitment to the people-first culture are well respected by our colleagues, our patients, unions and the community."  Mr Solomon said that he and his colleagues feel "so lucky to have Mr Wu as our Chairman and we will continue to benefit from his leadership."
