The following is issued on behalf of the Housing Authority:
Jointly organised by the Hong Kong Housing Authority (HA) and the Occupational Safety and Health Council, this year's Site Safety Forum for Works Contracts and Property Services Contracts marks its fourth anniversary.
Aiming to raise the awareness of site safety among frontline staff and to cultivate safety culture in the industry, the forum invited professionals from the construction, maintenance, property management and cleaning services sectors to share their views and experiences on the best practices for improving safety performance.
Officiating at the forum, the Permanent Secretary for Transport and Housing (Housing), Mr D W Pescod, said that the HA has strived to promote occupational safety and health. "We believe that the promotion of a safety culture at all tiers and provision of a safe and healthy workplace are pre-requisites for the construction of quality housing and provision of effective management services," he said.
He urged all sectors and practitioners in the industry to strengthen partnerships to create a safer and healthier working environment for all.
The forum focused on three major topics: "Safe Working Cycle", "Safety for Cleaning Operations at Height" and "Fostering Harmonious, Safe and Healthy Estates". Through a series of videos, panel discussions and experience sharing sessions, the forum offered the 700 participants practical information on site safety and health issues.
The information will also be uploaded onto the HA/HD website (www.housingauthority.gov.hk). Interested parties may log on for more details.
