The following is issued on behalf of the Hong Kong Housing Authority:
Jointly organised by the Hong Kong Housing Authority (HA) and various industry associations and labour unions, the Quality Public Housing Construction and Maintenance Awards 2010 are now open for nominations.
Advocating "enhancing quality and professionalism in construction and maintenance" as in previous years, the event aims to recognise contractors, project teams, supervisors and workers for their outstanding performance in the construction and maintenance of public housing projects, as well as encouraging exchange and sharing among the industry for continuous improvement.
The awards come in two categories: "new works projects" and "maintenance and improvement projects". Assessment criteria include work quality, site safety, occupational safety and health, environmental protection, ethical integrity, partnership and customer service.
Co-organising the event are the Hong Kong Construction Association Limited, Hong Kong Federation of Electrical and Mechanical Contractors Limited, Hong Kong Construction Sub-Contractors Association, Hong Kong Construction Industry Employees General Union, Construction Site Workers General Union, Hong Kong and Kowloon Electrical Engineering and Appliances Trade Workers Union, Labour Department, Occupational Safety and Health Council, Construction Industry Council and Vocational Training Council.
Nomination forms can be obtained at all public housing estate offices, the HA Headquarters, construction and maintenance contractors offices or downloaded from the HA/HD website (www.housingauthority.gov.hk). Completed nomination forms should reach the HA Headquarters on or before July 30.
