***********************************************************

The Social Welfare Advisory Committee (SWAC) announced today (June 25) that two additional consultation sessions will be arranged in July for stakeholders to express their views and comments on long-term social welfare planning in Hong Kong.

Details of the two additional consultation sessions are as follows:

Consultation session (1)
Date: July 19, 2010 (Monday)
Time: 7.30pm to 9.30pm
Venue: Y-Theatre, Youth Square, 238 Chai Wan Road, Chai Wan, Hong Kong

Consultation session (2)
Date: July 24, 2010 (Saturday)
Time: 10am to noon
Venue: Lecture Hall, Hong Kong Museum of History, 100 Chatham Road South, Tsim Sha Tsui, Kowloon

Those who would like to attend the sessions should make prior registration with the SWAC secretariat by completing and returning the reply slip available on the SWAC website (www.swac.org.hk). Seats will be allocated on a first-come-first-served basis.

The SWAC issued a consultation paper on long-term social welfare planning in April 2010.  To directly gauge the views of and elicit comments from stakeholders on the paper, the SWAC held four consultation sessions in May 2010.  Written comments should be submitted to the SWAC by July 31, 2010.

The consultation paper and details of the additional consultation sessions have been uploaded onto the SWAC website. Interested parties can also approach SWAC secretariat (tel: 2810 3432 or 2810 3433) for hard copies of the consultation paper.
