Applications for temporary hawker licences relating to fund-raising activities
*******************************************************

On the applications for temporary hawker licences relating to fund-raising activities along the route of procession on Hong Kong Island on July 1, the Food and Environmental Hygiene Department (FEHD) further sought views from the Police and Lands Department today (June 11). It was agreed that the FEHD could issue temporary hawker licences to the applicants if certain conditions were fulfilled.

These conditions include the stalls not causing obstruction to pedestrian traffic; the licencees complying with instructions concerning public safety by law enforcement officers; stalls confining to required areas; as well as the location not having been allocated to other organisations.

An FEHD spokesman said that the Department had informed the applicants, whose applications either had been declined or were undergoing processing earlier, of the decision.

The relevant departments will process applications in future based on the same criteria.
