Government adjusts Outbound Travel Alert for Thailand to amber

     The HKSAR Government today (June 9) adjusted the Outbound Travel Alert (OTA) for Thailand to amber. Hong Kong residents who intend to visit the country are reminded to monitor the situation and exercise caution. Those who are already there should attend to their personal safety.

     A government spokesman said, "As the situation there may still change, the Security Bureau will continue to monitor the situation closely, and adjust its alert level if necessary.  Residents should pay attention to announcements by the bureau."

     Residents who need assistance while outside Hong Kong may call the 24-hour hotline of the Assistance to Hong Kong Residents Unit of the Immigration Department at (852) 1868.
