The following is issued on behalf of the Mandatory Provident Fund Schemes Authority:
An officer was fined $46,000 at the Kwun Tong Magistracy on June 7, after being convicted of offences under the Mandatory Provident Fund Schemes Ordinance (Cap. 485).
Chan Hoi Lam, Officer of Climax Management Company Limited and Climax Paper Converters Limited, was charged under section 7A(8) and section 44 of the ordinance, and pleaded guilty to 12 counts and 11 counts of failing to make MPF contributions for employees within the prescribed time for the contribution periods between October 2008 and September 2009 and between November 2008 and September 2009 respectively. The defendant was fined $2,000 for each summons, totalling $46,000.
