Hong Kong will share its experience in the planning and management of green transport at the "Green Transport in Hong Kong, Asia's World City" seminar to be held in Shanghai on June 18.
The seminar is part of Hong Kong's participation in World Expo 2010 Shanghai China. Topics at the seminar will focus on how to further advance green transport internationally.
The Secretary for Transport and Housing, Ms Eva Cheng, will outline Hong Kong's experience in green transport at the seminar. Other speakers from Hong Kong include the Deputy Director of Planning, Mr Jimmy Leung, and Chief Executive Officer of the MTR Corporation Limited, Mr C K Chow. They will talk about urban planning and financing of green transport respectively.
The Director of the Shanghai Urban and Rural Construction and Transport Commission, Mr Huang Rong, will be the guest of honour at the opening ceremony. A renowned expert on green transport, Professor David Banister of Oxford University, will also speak at the seminar.
The event is jointly organised by the HKSAR Government, the Centre of Urban Studies and Urban Planning and Institute of Transport Studies of the University of Hong Kong, the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport in Hong Kong, and the Hong Kong Institute of Planners.
Admission is free but advance registration is required.
