Police seized pistol in Sham Shui Po
************************************

Police today (June 5) arrested five men and seized a pistol in an anti-triad operation in Sham Shui Po.

After in-depth investigations, officers of Organised Crime and Triad Bureau mounted an operation this afternoon and raided a cafe at Lai Kok Shopping Centre where two men, aged 36 and 47 were arrested.

A 9 mm-calibre pistol with seven rounds of ammunition were found in one of the arrested persons' possession.

Police arrested two more men, aged 48 and 50 in the vicinity of the cafe while another 39-year-old was also arrested in a residential unit in Sham Shui Po in a follow-up raid.

Initial enquiries revealed that the arrested persons, including a ringleader, belonged to a triad group active in Kowloon West. Police believed the pistol seized would be used in a settlement talk and gang fights later.

The suspects were arrested for "Possession of firearms and ammunitions without license" and "conspiracy to wound". They will be detained overnight for further enquiries.
