The Civil Service Bureau (CSB) and the Chinese Academy of Governance (CAG) signed a memorandum of cooperation today (May 27) to further strengthen their collaboration in training civil servants of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) Government.

The Executive Vice-President of the Chinese Academy of Governance, Mr Wei Liqun, and the Secretary for the Civil Service, Miss Denise Yue, signed the memorandum of cooperation at a ceremony in the HKSAR. Taking this opportunity, the CSB and CAG looked back on their experience in co-organising training programmes and explored a partnership in national studies training for civil servants of the HKSAR Government based on their training needs.

Since 1999, the CSB has commissioned CAG (formerly known as the National School of Administration) to organise the Advanced National Studies Programme in Beijing. The programme aims to deepen participants' understanding of current policies and topical issues on the Mainland and to enhance networking between participants and Mainland officials. So far, 18 classes have been organised for about 350 directorate civil servants. Participants' feedback on the programme has been highly positive.

The signing of the memorandum will further enhance the cooperation between CSB and CAG in the future.
