Visitors to Hong Kong from World Expo 2010 Shanghai China (Shanghai Expo) may enjoy a range of offers valued at over $5,000 for shopping, dining and sightseeing in Hong Kong.
The offers are part of the "Now Shanghai! Next Hong Kong!" programme launched by the Hong Kong Tourism Board.
Each visitor to the Hong Kong Pavilion and Hong Kong's Urban Best Practices Area (UBPA) exhibition at Shanghai Expo is given a "Visit Hong Kong" privilege card. Presentation of the card to participating merchants in Hong Kong entitles the bearer to attractive shopping privileges.
More information about this programme is available from the official website on Hong Kong's participation in Shanghai Expo, www.hkexpo2010.gov.hk, in which a hyperlink has been set up to the "Now Shanghai! Next Hong Kong!" website.
Another major purpose of the "Now Shanghai! Next Hong Kong!" website is to promote the signature event "Festive Hong Kong Celebration" at Xintiandi in Shanghai, which will be launched on May 31 by Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development, Mrs Rita Lau, and Chairman of the Hong Kong Tourism Board, Mr James Tien.
This event is one of the HKSAR programmes for Shanghai Expo. From June 1 to 15, visitors can connect with the Hong Kong experience at Xintiandi to see exciting performances and win fabulous travel prizes.
Hong Kong has an active presence in Shanghai Expo. Apart from constructing and operating a stand-alone Hong Kong Pavilion under the theme "Hong Kong - Potential Unlimited"; Hong Kong also takes part in the UBPA Exhibition under the theme "Smart Card ¡P Smart City ¡P Smart Life"; has a presence in Expo Shanghai Online; and holds over 55 events and activities during the six-month Expo period from May 1 to October 31 to promote the city as a modern, vibrant and interconnected metropolis with high quality city life built on creativity and innovation.
