Government issues Amber Outbound Travel Alert for Nepal and removes Amber Outbound Travel Alert for Turkey

     In view of the recent developments in Nepal, including some large-scale demonstrations, the HKSAR Government today (May 4) issued an Amber Outbound Travel Alert (OTA) for the country. A government spokesman said, "Those who plan to visit the country or already there should monitor the situation and exercise caution."

     The Security Bureau will continue to liaise with the Office of the Commissioner of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People's Republic of China in Hong Kong in monitoring the situation there. Any update will be issued through the media and the bureau's OTA webpage www.sb.gov.hk/eng/ota .

     Meanwhile, the Government today removed the Amber OTA for Turkey.

     Residents who need assistance while outside Hong Kong may call the 24-hour hotline of the Assistance to Hong Kong Residents Unit of the Immigration Department at (852) 1868.
