United Nations Sanctions (Democratic Republic of the Congo) Regulation 2010 gazetted

     The Government today (April 30) gazetted the United Nations Sanctions (Democratic Republic of the Congo) Regulation 2010, which came into effect on the same date.  

     "The Regulation implements sanctions against Democratic Republic of the Congo (DR Congo) imposed by the United Nations Security Council under Resolution 1896," a Government spokesman said.

     The sanctions under the Regulation include:

* prohibition against the supply, sale, transfer or carriage of arms or related materiel to a person operating in the territory of DR Congo;

* prohibition against the provision of assistance, advice or training related to military activities to a person operating in the territory of DR Congo;

* prohibition against making available to certain persons or entities funds or other financial assets or economic resources, or dealing with funds or other financial assets or economic resources of certain persons or entities; and

* prohibition against entry into or transit through the HKSAR by certain persons.
