The Education Bureau (EDB) today (April 23) announced that 24 candidates had been elected to the Council on Professional Conduct in Education under the teacher-nominated and the organisation-nominated categories.
In the teacher-nominated category, 13 candidates were elected to the council. They are:

Votes for the organisation-nominated category were counted today by the EDB's Chief Professional Development Officer, Mrs Helen Kung Chan Wai-ping, witnessed by the representative from the Hong Kong Institution of Engineers, Ir Dr Lau Chi-keung, and the representative from the Hong Kong Institute of Certified Public Accountants, Mr Patrick Tam.
In the organisation-nominated category, 11 candidates were elected. Among them, nine candidates were elected under the following categories: Dr Chan Wai-kai, Dr Chiu Cheung-ki (School Groups and Sponsoring Bodies); Mr Lam Lui-ming, Mr Hon Lin-shan (Teachers' Unions); Mr Chiu Sin-on, Mr Liu Chun-kuen, Ms Grace Tsui Wai-chuen (Subject-related Organisations); Mr Alan Chow Ping-yan (Educational Commentary and Research Organisations); and Dr Sammy Hui King-fai (Other Educational Organisations).
Dr Wong Ping-man (Teacher Education Institutions) and Mr Peter Lau Chiu-yin (Organisations of School Heads) were elected uncontested.
The list of council members of the new term has been uploaded to the website of the council (http://cpc.edb.org.hk).
The Permanent Secretary for Education will nominate three members, comprising a Principal Education Officer of the EDB and two lay members, to the council.
The first council meeting of the new term will be held on May 18 (Tuesday).
