Chairman of the Community Investment and Inclusion Fund Committee re-appointed

     The Government announced today (April 16) the re-appointment of Mr Yeung Ka-sing as the Chairman of the Community Investment and Inclusion Fund (CIIF) Committee for a term of three years, with effect from May 1, 2010.

     Mr Yeung comes from the business sector.  He has been the Chairman of the CIIF Committee since May 1, 2007. He is currently the Chairman of the Hong Kong Housing Society and serves on a number of government advisory boards and committees including the Employees Retraining Board and Advisory Committee on Post-service Employment of Civil Servants.

     The Secretary for Labour and Welfare, Mr Matthew Cheung Kin-chung, welcomed the re-appointment. He said, "Mr Yeung has demonstrated exemplary dedication and devotion to the development of social capital in Hong Kong in the past three years. I am thankful to Mr Yeung for his sterling contribution to the work of the CIIF and am confident that under his outstanding leadership the CIIF Committee will further promote cross-sectoral collaboration to build social capital in Hong Kong effectively."

     The $300-million CIIF was established in 2002 to provide seed funding to support projects aimed at developing social capital and fostering mutual support in the neighbourhood through cross-sectoral collaboration.  The CIIF committee is tasked to advise the Government on the development of social capital in Hong Kong as well as handle applications for funding under the CIIF.
