Exco members' remarks on 2012 Constitutional Reform Proposals
****************************************************

The following is issued on behalf of the Executive Council Secretariat:

The Convenor of the Non-official Members of the Executive Council (Exco), Mr Leung Chun-ying, and Non-official Exco Members, Mr Ronald Arculli and Dr Leong Che-hung, met the media on 2012 Constitutional Reform Proposals at the Legislative Council Building today (April 14). Following is the transcript of the media session:

Reporter: Mr Leung, do you think there is enough democratic progress in the refined package that the public, and especially the pan-democrats, would support the reform package?

Convenor of the Non-official Exco Members: Definitely. Because the constitutional specification clause to move forward is to require, among other thing, two-thirds majority of the LegCo members to support. There is a very high degree of democracy in the present package of proposals and I appeal to all in the community to support the Government's proposals.
