Customs seizes drugs worth $0.93 million (with photo)

     Customs officers at the Hong Kong-Macau Ferry Terminal arrested a foreign man suspected of trafficking in about 15,000 tablets of Nimetazepam (Erimin-5) with an estimated  value of HK$0.93 million yesterday (April 5).

     At about 4pm yesterday, Customs officers intercepted for inspection the 19-year-old foreign male who had arrived from Macau, and found about 15,000 tablets of Nimetazepam (Erimin-5) from five food carton boxes contained in a luggage case that he was carrying.    

     The arrested man has been charged with the offence ˇ§Trafficking in a dangerous drugˇ¨.  He will appear at Eastern Magistratesˇ¦ Court tomorrow (April 7).

     Drug trafficking is a serious offence. Under the Dangerous Drugs Ordinance, the maximum penalty for drug trafficking is up to life imprisonment and a fine of $5 million.
