The Hong Kong Wetland Park will hold "Easter Family Excursion at Wetland Park" from April 2 to 6 and provide an opportunity for children and families to get closer to nature this vibrant spring.
For the first time, the park will present an exhibition "Meet the Fireflies" to deepen public understanding of this mysterious and much-loved insect. Visitors can observe the fireflies closely in a dark environment inside the Tropical Swamp Gallery and see the twinkling glow of the firefly larvae.¡@Information display panels will illustrate the life cycle of a firefly, the characteristics of its larva as well as the magic of the firefly glow.
In addition, visitors will see some 90 species of aquatic plants and waterside plants at the park in the spring blooming season. They can enjoy the beautiful scenery with plenty of water lilies, touch-me-nots and umbrella plants. Guided tours will be provided to introduce the characteristics of various aquatic plants in the wetlands.
Apart from guided tours, visitors may also take part in tree branch art workshops. With their creativity, participants will give the wilted branches and fallen leaves collected at the park new life by making animal and plant crafts. Interpreters will also explain how these seemingly useless materials can enrich wetlands.
During this time of the year, many creatures make their home in the park, including over 44 species of dragonflies, 147 species of butterflies, 12 species of crabs, 19 species of fish, as well as many species of insects and birds.
For a stress-free holiday, the park is an ideal place for those who wish to appreciate the unique wetland scenery and take a closer look at the wonders of nature. Cartoon character McDull will also be present during the Easter holidays and will distribute limited edition souvenirs to visitors.
