Entries invited for tennis competition of Masters Games
*******************************************************

The Masters Games 2010/11, organised by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LCSD), will be held between June 2010 and January 2011. Enrolment for the tennis competition will start from tomorrow (March 26). Sports enthusiasts aged 35 or above are invited to participate in this territory-wide Games.

The Master Games is held every two years. This year, there will be competitions in six sports - tennis, table tennis, tai chi, swimming, badminton and distance run.

A spokesman for the department said,"The Masters Games places more emphasis on the participation in and enjoyment of sports rather than winning prizes. By providing opportunities for those aged 35 or above to compete against people of similar ages, we hope to sustain their interest in sports."

"The Masters Games is also aimed at encouraging participants to actively involve in the sports volunteer services so as to help promote sports activities to the community. To this end, LCSD will arrange interested participants to act as umpires in the preliminary rounds of some of the competition events," he added.
