The Director of Food and Environmental Hygiene has ordered two restaurants in Yuen Long to suspend business for 14 days for repeated violations of the Food Business Regulation, taking effect from today (March 19) to April 1.

One of the restaurants (¥¿°Oµ°©±), at Shop No.4, ground floor, Ho Sing Building, Kam Fai Path, Yuen Long Town Lot 338, had two convictions in March and April 2008 in respect of unauthorised extension of food business at the food premises.

A total fine of $8,000 was levied and 30 demerit points were registered against the licensee under the department's demerit points system. The contraventions resulted in the 14-day business suspension.

The food premises also had two convictions in April 2008 for the same offence.

"A total fine of $5,500 was levied and 30 demerit points were registered against the licensee. The breaches led to business suspension for seven days last May," a spokesman for the Food and Environmental Hygiene Department said.

Another restaurant (¤T¿³®üÂA¶º©±), on ground floor, No.10 Tai Cheung Street, Shing Fat Building, was also ordered to suspend business for the same period.

"In April last year, there were two convictions in respect of unauthorised extension of food business at the food premises," the spokesman said.

"A total fine of $6,000 was levied and 30 demerit points were registered against the licensee. The contraventions resulted in the 14-day business suspension."

He said the food premises also had convictions in July and December 2008 for a dirty food room and unauthorised extension of food business respectively.

"A total fine of $4,000 was levied and 15 demerit points were registered against the licensee. The breaches led to business suspension for seven days last March," he said.

The spokesman reminded licensees of food premises to comply with the Food Business Regulation, or their licences could be suspended or cancelled.
