The Chairman of the Mandatory Provident Fund Schemes Authority (MPFA), Ms Anna Wu, today (March 12) welcomed the Government's appointment of Mr Rimsky Yuen as a non-executive director of the MPFA for a term of two years, with effect from March 17, 2010.
Ms Wu said that Mr Yuen, with his legal expertise, would surely provide invaluable advice on the operations of the MPF System.
Ms Wu also welcomed the Chief Executive's re-appointment of Mrs Diana Chan as the Managing Director of the MPFA for a term of three years, with effect from July 1, 2010.
Ms Wu said, "The Management Board of the MPFA is very pleased with Mrs Diana Chan's performance as Managing Director of the MPFA during the past years. The MPF System is moving towards its 10th anniversary. While implementation of the Employee Choice Arrangement is in the pipeline, the MPFA is also preparing to review the long-term development of the MPF System. This involves the planning and implementation of major projects and initiatives. We are confident that under Mrs Chan's able leadership, the MPF System will be further enhanced and the operations further refined for the better retirement protection of scheme members."
Mrs Chan said, "I feel privileged to be re-appointed as the Managing Director of the MPFA. Under the guidance and support of the Chairman and all members of the Management Board, I will endeavour to tackle the challenges ahead by working closely with my professional and dedicated colleagues." She also thanked the various partners under the MPF System for their ongoing support, including the Government, industry players, scheme members, employers and other stakeholders in the community.
Finally, Ms Wu extended her gratitude towards Mr Edward Chan, who is retiring from the Management Board of the MPFA after nearly six years' illustrious service. Mr Chan, also the Chairman of the Guidelines Committee under the Management Board, has given invaluable legal advice on the operations of the MPF System. His wisdom and insights also have contributed greatly to the development of the MPF System.
Mr Rimsky Yuen was called to the Hong Kong Bar in 1987. He was appointed Senior Counsel in 2003. He was appointed Temporary Deputy Registrar of the High Court for periods in 2002 and 2003, and has been the Chairman of the Hong Kong Bar Association.
Mrs Diana Chan joined the MPFA in 2000. Since then, she has taken up the posts of Executive Director (Corporate Services) and Chief Operating Officer (Corporate Affairs), and was officially appointed Managing Director in July 2004.
