Police are investigating a traffic accident in Central this afternoon (March 1) in which a 68-year-old woman was killed.
About 1.30pm, a taxi driven by a 54-year-old man was travelling along Kennedy Road towards Wan Chai. As the taxi was approaching No. 9A Kennedy Road, the driver reportedly lost control and the vehicle went onto the pavement where it hit a 68-year-old pedestrian.
Sustaining serious injuries, the elderly woman was taken to Ruttonjee Hospital where she was certified dead at 1.50pm.
Investigations by the Special Investigation Team of Traffic, Hong Kong Island, are under way.
