Hongkong Post today (March 1) announced that a special stamp sheetlet on "Mainland Scenery Series No 9: Fujian Tulou" would be released for sale together with associated philatelic products on March 18.
This issue features Fujian Tulou made up of 46 buildings scattered among 10 sites in three counties, a magnificent piece of architecture built by Hakka mountain dwellers officially inscribed on the World Heritage List of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization on July 6, 2008.
The sheetlet depicts five structures in the Tianluokeng Cluster dubbed figuratively "Four Dishes with a Soup", with Buyun Lou surrounded by three circular structures (Hechang Lou, Ruiyun Lou, Zhenchang Lou) and an oval structure (Wenchang Lou). The stamp showcases Chengqi Lou in the Gaobei Cluster with renowned characteristics that earned its reputation as the "King of Tulou".
A prestige gift set comprising the stamp sheetlet as well as a miniature Tulou is also available for sale at the General Post Office, Tsim Sha Tsui Post Office, Tsuen Wan Post Office and Sha Tin Central Post Office. Fabricated with high quality clay to mimic natural uniqueness of Tulou, the miniature complements perfectly the framed sheetlet sitting on a classic wooden base.
Official First Day Covers at $1 each will be available at all post offices from Thursday (March 4), while the stamp sheetlet and associated philatelic products will be displayed at the General Post Office, Tsim Sha Tsui Post Office, Tsuen Wan Post Office and Sha Tin Central Post Office the same day. Advance orders for servicing self-provided covers will be accepted at all philatelic offices from March 4 to 10.
