The following is the transcript of remarks by the Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development, Mrs Rita Lau, to the media after attending RTHK's Lunar New Year celebration today (February 23) (English portion):
Reporter: When can we see the advisory board about RTHK being set up and who will be appointed?
Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development: The report of the consultation exercise is being compiled. Our target is to submit the report for the information of the Legislative Council's Panel on Information Technology and Broadcasting. As I said just now, we would like to take the first opportunity of sharing the content of the charter with colleagues of RTHK. Following all these steps, subject to any fine-tuning that might be necessary after our briefing to and consultation with the staff, we aim to finalise the document for full implementation as soon as possible thereafter.
On the appointment of the advisory board, we have made it very clear that the members and chairman will be appointed by the Chief Executive and of course in due time we will announce their appointments.
