The following is issued on behalf of the Hospital Authority:
Regarding a male ward of Castle Peak Hospital (CPH) in which some patients had presented with diarrhea symptoms, the hospital spokesperson announced the following update today (February 6):
Four more patients (aged 36 to 54) in the ward had presented with diarrhea symptoms. Appropriate tests had been arranged for the patients. The test results of all the patients were positive to Rotavirus. The patients are being treated under isolation and all are in stable condition.
Admission to the ward has been suspended. Restricted visiting to and discharge from the ward is imposed. Infection control measures of the ward concerned have already been stepped up. All other patients in the ward are under close surveillance.
The cases have been reported to the Hospital Authority Head Office and the Centre for Health Protection for necessary follow up.
