Temporary shelter at Holy Carpenter Church remains open
*******************************************************

A spokesman for the Home Affairs Department today (February 5) said the Holy Carpenter Church Community Centre would continue to serve as a temporary shelter for people affected by the building collapse in Ma Tau Wai Road.

The spokesman thanked the Hong Kong Sheng Kung Hui for immediately allowing the use of the Holy Carpenter Church Community Centre as temporary accommodation for people affected by the building collapse. "The community centre has been providing much-needed services to the elderly and people in need in the district. We also appreciate the understanding of other users," the spokesman said.

"Neither the Kowloon City District Office nor the church set a time limit on the opening of the community centre."

The District Office will provide transportation for people in the Holy Carpenter Church Community Centre if they choose to move to the Shek Lei Transit Centre or the Henry G. Leong Yaumatei Community Centre.
