The 4th All-China Games HKSAR Delegation Organising Committee established today

     The Organising Committee of the Hong Kong Special Administration Region (HKSAR) Delegation to the 4th All-China Games of the People's Republic of China was established today (February 4) to handle all matters pertaining to the participation of the Hong Kong delegation in the Games.

     At the invitation of the General Administration of Sport, the HKSAR will send a delegation to participate in the 4th All-China Games to be held in Hefei city of Anhui province from May 16 to 26 this year. This is the first time that the HKSAR government formally organises a delegation to take part in the Games.

     Held once every four years, the All-China Games is a national non-Olympic multi-sports event. Comparable to the National Games, it gathers top athletes from all over the country. It is organised by the General Administration of Sport of China and the All-China Sports Federation since 2000 with the aim of promoting non-Olympic events and sport events among the general public. It is held to meet the public needs of various sport events and to balance the development of competing sports and sports for general public.

     There are 34 competition events for this year's Games, including fin swimming, water skiing, motor boat, Chinese wrestling, open water swimming, life saving, aerobics, sports acrobatics, indoor 5-a-side-football, 3-on-3 basketball, boules, billiards, squash, bowling, golf, parachuting, aeromodel, marine modeling, wireless location hunt, orienteering, go, Chinese chess, chess, bridge, health qigong, rock climbing, gateball, body building, roller sports, tug of war, dragon boat, lion dance, shuttlecock and dancesport.

     The Organising Committee will organise and coordinate the participation of Hong Kong athletes to the Games. The Executive Committee formed under the Organising Committee will carry out all the work relating to the organisation of the HKSAR Delegation and will make regular reports to the Organising Committee. Besides members of the Organising Committee, veterans in sports sector and in the community will be invited to join the Executive Committee to provide advice and assistance.
