EMSD investigation into LPG vehicle incident in progress
********************************************************

The Electrical and Mechanical Services Department (EMSD) said today (February 2) that the investigation into last month's (January) LPG vehicle incident was progressing. So far, laboratory test results on LPG samples received have not identified any breach of the auto-LPG specifications.

Since the LPG engine stalling incident, the EMSD has established a task force to conduct an extensive and comprehensive investigation. LPG samples were taken for laboratory testing on the Mainland and in Germany.

As regards media reports on the progress of the laboratory tests, the EMSD said it had received all the results of laboratory tests conducted on the Mainland and some of the results of tests conducted in Germany. A number of LPG samples are still undergoing tests in Germany. All test results received so far indicate that the concerned LPG samples complied with auto-LPG specifications. The EMSD will, when it receives the remaining test results from Germany, submit all test results and analysis to the task force, for a scientific and comprehensive investigation into the engine stalling incident.

An EMSD spokesman said the department and the task force would continue to work together on the comprehensive and extensive investigation in an impartial, objective and fair manner.
