Bilateral meeting between HK and Mainland Police

The Vice Minister of Public Security, Mr Chen Zhimin, led a delegation from the Mainland to meet the Commissioner of Police, Mr Tang King-shing, and other senior officers from various departments in the Hong Kong Police Force at a bilateral meeting held at the Police Headquarters today (February 1).

The delegation led by Mr Chen Zhimin included representatives from the Hong Kong and Macao Affairs Office, State Council; the Police Liaison Department, Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in HKSAR; the Anti-smuggling Bureau, General Administration of Customs; the Guangdong Provincial Public Security Department, and the Shenzhen and Zhuhai Public Security Bureau. Representatives from the Hong Kong Police were senior officers in charge of the Crime Wing, Operations Wing, Training Wing and Liaison Bureau.

During the meeting, both sides reported the crime situation in the Mainland and Hong Kong and reviewed the fruitful results of co-operation last year.  Discussion also included a range of topics of mutual interest, including personnel training, anti-terrorism, border control, anti-smuggling, public order, cross-boundary crimes, anti-narcotics, public information security and liaison.

Hong Kong Police and their Mainland counterparts agreed to enhance cooperation in police training. In addition to the ongoing staff exchange programmes, they discussed possible curricular adjustments for future courses to suit mutual training needs.

The two sides also agreed to further strengthen intelligence exchange on anti-terrorism, crimes and public order.
