The Kwong Wah Hospital (KWH) spokesman made the following announcement regarding the death of a human swine influenza (HSI) patient today (January 31):
A 47-year-old female patient with hypertension developed flu symptoms on January 21 and attended the Accident and Emergency Department of KWH on January 24. The patient was admitted to isolation ward for clinical treatment on the same day. Tamiflu and antibiotic were prescribed. Positive result of HSI was confirmed on January 25. Her condition deteriorated and she was transferred to Intensive Care Unit on January 25. She finally succumbed at about 11am today (January 31).
The case has been reported to the Hospital Authority Head Office and the Centre for Health Protection. The hospital would like to express its condolences to the deceasedˇ¦s family.
