Government expresses concern over Haiti quake

     The HKSAR Government expresses serious concern over the strong earthquake in Haiti, which has resulted in a large number of deaths and casualties, the Government spokesman said today (January 13).  

     The Immigration Department and the Office of the Commissioner of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People's Republic of China in the HKSAR are maintaining close liaison to monitor the development of the situation and seek information on whether any Hong Kong resident is affected.  So far the department has not received any request for assistance.  
   
     Residents who need assistance while outside Hong Kong may call the 24-hour hotline of the Immigration Department's Assistance to Hong Kong Residents Unit at (852) 1868.
