A wounding case in Mong Kok on December 9 last year was yesterday (January 4) reclassified as murder.
About 3.45pm on December 9, a 31-year-old man entered a building on Tung Choi Street, Mong Kok, to distribute leaflets. A 65-year-old male security guard stopped him when he tried to leave. The man pushed the security guard to the ground, and then allegedly kicked him in the head before fleeing. A passer-by reported the case to police.
The security guard sustained serious head injuries and was taken to the Kwong Wah Hospital where he was subsequently certified dead at 8.31am yesterday. A post-mortem will be conducted later to ascertain the causes of death of the man.
The 31-year-old man was arrested in Mong Kok on December 15 and subsequently charged with wounding. He is in Correctional Services Departmentˇ¦s custody. Legal advice is being sought from Department of Justice and the man will re-appear at Kowloon City Magistratesˇ¦ Court on January 21.
Investigations by District Crime Squad of Mong Kok District are under way.
