A woman was today (January 4) fined $4,000 at Kwun Tong Magistrates' Court for contravening the Clubs (Safety of Premises) Ordinance.
The court heard that the Office of the Licensing Authority (OLA) of Home Affairs Department conducted an inspection in June last year of a clubhouse in Yan Oi Court, Kwun Tong, which had been operating with a certificate of compliance (CoC). OLA officers, posing as customers, patronised food in the clubhouse without being verified of their membership status or being invited to join as members. Condition 19 of the CoC was found to have been contravened.
The woman, being the CoC holder, was charged with contravening Section 21(2) of the Clubs (Safety of Premises) Ordinance.
A department spokesman said robust enforcement action would continue to be taken against illegal clubhouse operations.
