The Financial Services and the Treasury Bureau today (December 31) announced that the Chief Executive had made the following appointments to the Capital Adequacy Review Tribunal (CART) for a three-year term with effect from tomorrow (January 1):

Mr David Gordon Eldon
Professor Japhet Sebastian Law
Mr Martin Liao Cheung-kong
Except for Ms Chau and Professor Law, all the appointees are serving members of the CART.
The appointments are gazetted today (December 31).
The CART is established under the Banking Ordinance. Its function is to review certain decisions made by the Monetary Authority under the Banking (Capital) Rules, which set out the technical details of how authorised institutions should calculate their capital adequacy ratios.
