The Chief Secretary for Administration, Mr Henry Tang, at a passing-out parade today (December 22) congratulated 78 graduates on becoming members of the Fire Service Department (FSD) to protect people's lives.
When inspecting the passing-out parade, Mr Tang encouraged the graduates to better equip themselves through continuous learning in order to providing quality services to meet changing public demands.
He said that FSD was dedicated to providing efficient and effective services through improving fire and ambulance equipment to enhance its capabilities in handling fire-fighting and rescue operations.
The parade was followed by a demonstration on firefighting and rescue by the graduates.
The graduates, including 37 firemen and 41 ambulancemen, have gone through a 26-week stringent basic training. They will be posted to various fire stations and ambulance depots for on-the-job training to gain field experience.
