The Kwong Wah Hospital (KWH) spokesman made the following announcement regarding the death of a human swine influenza (HSI) patient today (December 19):
A 59-year-old female patient with good past health was admitted to KWH for Acute Subarachnoid Haemorrhage with headache on December 7. She was presented with flu symptoms since December 12 and transferred to intensive care unit on December 14. Positive result of HSI was confirmed next day (December 15) and she was prescribed with Tamiflu and antibiotics. Her condition further deteriorated and succumbed this morning.
The case has been reported to the Hospital Authority Head Office and the Centre for Health Protection. The hospital would like to express its condolences to the deceasedˇ¦s family.
