Local choreographer and dancer Cyrus Hui will present his latest work "Here it goes again" next month (January).
The creation studies how one person's fate can be changed by a bystander's decision on the spur of the moment. It also encourages audiences to review their influences and improve their unconcerned attitude on others.
Inspired by his observations of everyday life, news stories on television and experiences from family and friends, Hui found that bystanders' lack of concern about things and the people around them could cause disastrous results. They would not consider the possibilities with "if only" or ponder the "could have been's" unless irrevocable circumstances occurred. In "Here it goes again", Hui will turn back the clock on happenings with audiences and make an alternative decision. The different results are juxtaposed to let the audience reflect upon the need to seize the opportunities to rewrite stories in life, for the betterment of themselves and others.
Cyrus Hui graduated from the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts in 2006 with major in modern dance and choreography. He furthered his training in Folkwand Hochschule in Germany, the same year, and has performed in Germany, France, Italy, Guangzhou and Taiwan. As a freelance choreographer, dancer and dance instructor, Hui has created "Beyond the Light", "That's Dance", "A Double Room", "Fleeting Moments", "Go! Go!", "half:w", "Space Interpreted by Three and Some Time" and "Some Wait".
