Following is the transcript of the answer (English portion) given by the Secretary for Constitutional and Mainland Affairs, Mr Stephen Lam, to a media question on the court's ruling on a judicial review case after attending a meeting of the Yau Tsim Mong District Council this (December 10) afternoon:
Secretary for Constitutional and Mainland Affairs: All along we have been organising Hong Kong's elections, including those to the Legislative Council, in accordance with the Basic Law and our local legislation. In the past months, we have been putting to the High Court the history and the basis on which these elections have been organised. We welcome the High Court's decision today and henceforth we will continue to organise Hong Kong's elections in accordance with the Basic Law and the legislation in Hong Kong.
