The Hong Kong business delegation concluded its visit to Sichuan today (December 9).
In the morning, the delegation visited the Tianfu Software Park and selected companies engaged in pharmaceutical and food production based in the Chengdu High-tech Industrial Development Zone, with a view to gaining a better understanding of the development of IT and manufacturing industries in Chengdu.
The Chief Secretary for Administration, Mr Henry Tang, said that the zone was an important base for high-tech industries in Chengdu and had nurtured a large number of high performing enterprises. The visit today had enabled the delegation to get first-hand information about the industrial development in Chengdu.
Concluding the three-day visit, Mr Tang said: ¡§This has been a most fruitful visit, thanks to the thoughtful arrangements so seamlessly put together by the Sichuan government. Members of the delegation are deeply impressed by the growth potential and the emerging business opportunities in Sichuan. I hope the visit will pave the way for greater participation by Hong Kong companies in the development of Sichuan. I am confident bilateral economic and social ties between the two places will grow from strength to strength.¡¨
