Police will implement special traffic arrangements in New Territories South tomorrow (December 10) and Saturday (December 12) to facilitate an East Asian Games road cycling competition.
(1) Road closure
The following road closures will be implemented for the race on December 10:
- Tsing Sha Highway Kowloon bound carriageway from 5am to 6pm on December 10.
The following road closures will be implemented for the race on December 12:
- The section of Chong San Road between Fo Yin Road and Science Park Road (from 6pm on December 11 to 5pm on December 12);
- The section of Ma On Shan Bypass between Ma On Shan Road and Sai Sha Road (from 7am to 2.30pm on December 12).
(2) Traffic diversion
The following traffic diversions will be implemented for the race on December 10:
- Traffic along Tsing Sha Highway heading for Kowloon has to travel via other roads (such as Tai Po Road, Lion Rock Tunnel, Shing Mun Tunnel or Tate's Cairn Tunnel) from 5am to 6pm on December 10.
The following traffic diversions will be implemented for the race on December 12:
- Traffic along Chong San Road between Tai Po and Ma Liu Shui has to travel via Science Park East Avenue from 6pm on December 11 to 5pm on December 12.
- Traffic along Ma On Shan Bypass between Sai Kung and Sha Tin has to travel via Sai Sha Road and Ma On Shan Road from 7am to 2.30pm.
- When the cycling road race starts and nears its completion, roads along the cycling race course (i.e. sections of Tolo Highway (Sha Tin bound), Tate's Cairn Highway, Ma On Shan Road, Chak Cheung Street and Science Park Road) may be temporarily closed for the Police to escort the cyclists between Chong San Road and Ma On Shan Bypass
(3) Temporary closure of cycle track
Depending on the prevailing circumstances, part of the cycle track on Chong San Road may be temporarily closed by the police for the implementation of crowd management measures.
