The Secretary for Financial Services and the Treasury, Professor K C Chan, arrived in Fuzhou today (December 8) to start his two-day visit to Fujian, aiming to promote Hong Kong's attractiveness as Mainland enterprises' preferred capital raising centre outside the Mainland.
Professor Chan first led some 70 members of the Hong Kong financial services delegation to attend a welcoming lunch hosted by Fujian provincial leaders. He described to the Vice Governor of Fujian Province, Mr Ye Shuangyu, and other Fujian provincial officials the strengths of Hong Kong as an international financial centre. He also encouraged Mainland enterprises to make use of Hong Kong as a platform for listing, financing and expanding their global businesses.
In the afternoon, Professor Chan and the financial services delegation went to Quanzhou and met Acting Mayor of Quanzhou, Mr Li Jianguo. Quanzhou municipal leaders hosted a dinner reception for Professor Chan and the delegation.
Tomorrow morning, Professor Chan will address a listing seminar on capital raising for Fujian enterprises, followed by a visit to Xiamen in the afternoon where he will call on Vice Mayor of Xiamen, Ms Huang Ling. He will also visit a Fujian enterprise before returning to Hong Kong tomorrow night.
