The Government today (December 4) announced the re-appointments of Ms Amanda Liu Lai-yun and Ms Ung Mon-in, and the new appointment of Mr Paul Shieh Wing-tai, to the Management Committee of the Consumer Legal Action Fund for a term of two years with effect from December 6.
"We are delighted that Ms Liu and Ms Ung have agreed to continue to serve on the committee and that Mr Shieh has accepted the new appointment. We are confident that with their expertise, the committee will continue to manage the fund efficiently and in a manner that best serves the public interest," a government spokesman said.
Mr Anthony Chan Kin-keung will retire from the management committee upon the expiry of his current term on December 5. "We are grateful to Mr Chan for his invaluable service to the committee during his term of office," the spokesman added.
The Consumer Legal Action Fund was established in 1994 to provide financial assistance to meritorious consumer cases for legal action or other forms of assistance.
The Consumer Council is the trustee of the fund. The management committee assists the Consumer Council in managing the fund and determining the eligibility of applications under the fund.
